Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Say I want the affordable tablets - what should I expect to pay?
ACP will cover the full cost of your tablet and 5 years of internet service. You will only be responsible for the one time $20 activation fee at the time of pick up. Nothing else!

Is it going to be some cheap third-party phone or tablet?
Absolutely not! These are Samsung tablets, with full access to the same apps available through Google Play.

My child receives Free or Reduced lunch/breakfast. What do I need to do to sign up for ACP?
Families will need a letter stating that their child participates in a free and reduced-priced lunch program by attending a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. Letters issued by the school—or for some CEP schools, a student’s report card—may serve as proof of eligibility for ACP.

Will I need to provide my Social Security Number (SSN) to sign up?
No - If a household is unable to provide an SSN or feels uncomfortable doing so, they can use a government-issued ID, passport, driver’s license, tribal identification number, or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) documentation.

What is the income threshold used for ACP?
If a consumer household’s gross annual income is 200% or less than the federal poverty guidelines, they qualify for the ACP. The table below reflects the income limit by household size, which is 200% of the 2022 Federal Poverty Guidelines.

How long will this program last?
The ACP is a permanent program. This is a change from the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) which was a temporary program for the pandemic emergency. When Congress turned the EBB into the ACP, they also ended its emergency designation.
